Trick... or Treat...
Author: Miss Guitar
· Perspective of the Infected:
"Freckle, how much candy have you got?"
I grinned and greeted him, but my facial muscles were stiff.
Freckle struggled to stuff his intestines back into his stomach. I stared at his intestines-- no candy-shaped bumps. Well, I knew it. Freckle wasn't that cute, it was hard for him to get candy.
Freckle swaggered forward, refusing to answer me.
"Flop."
Freckle's head wobbled on his shoulders and then finally rolled off, he laid on the ground in frustration, not moving any more.
I found a big tree and hid behind it. Freckle's head was very round, and I knew exactly who would like it.
"Woof!...Woof!"
I was a little excited, the black creature was here again!
Freckle's head was thrown high, and rolled all the way to my feet.
Oh, the creature had found me. I wanted to run, but I could only stagger slowly. He stared at me expectantly in a strange posture.
He was on his stomach, with his tail wagging playfully.
“Woof, woof!
He stopped playing with the Freckle's head, but kept barking at me.
Oh, too much noise. It reminded me of a noise that often gave me headache. It sounded like a saw cutting through my head. I heard the neighbor complaining that the noise was made by a big-bellied man who never zipped up his clothes.
"Frank, Frank, where are you?"
The crisp voice came closer. I hurriedly hid behind the tree. Then I saw the "yellow coat" come running over, holding a large crossbow.
The black creature named Frank got low to the ground and tossed Freckle's head toward the yellow coat. His tail whipped back and forth.
"Oh stop! I've told you a thousand times, never come to me with the head of an Infected!
The voice of the yellow coat was a bit angry. Infected… this word… familiar... as well as this voice ...
The yellow coat left with Frank. I looked at Freckle's head on the ground, feeling a little upset.
This Halloween was terrible. I didn’t even get candy--
Candy?
There had appeared a pile of candy next to Freckle's head, colorful, sweet candy!
This Halloween was great: so much candy!
· Perspective of Maddie:
“Candy Time!
Maddie, throw some candies down now!"
Rusty was yelling downstairs. Only a few people knew that Rusty had a sweet tooth, especially for hard candy.
“Give us Candy!
or Rusty will sing for you! "
Chef Ken was also excited. He adored sweets. But to tell the truth, he was never very picky, loved every kind of food.
These guys with big appetites, my candy was running out!
You know, in this world, it's harder to get some candy than it is to see a dancing Infected.
But—actually, I went out today and found a lot of candy, but I...I gave them to the her, my little cutie.
I don't think she remembers who I am. So many memories came to mind...
"Maddie, I bought you a cone, vanilla flavor! So sweet!”
"Oh, Maddie!
You're always roughhousing with me!"
"Maddie, my mom's going to church today. She made a feast, let’s eat together!"
"Maddie..."
The little cutie was my neighbor, who was in fifth grade. She loved to cry, loved to eat candy and ice cream, and more than anything enjoyed rough-and-tumble play.
After the outbreak, I lost contact with her. I didn't expect I would see her again in this way. She had already become the Infected, hiding behind a tree and gazing at me. Her eyes were still big, but her skin was completely changed.
Becca and Sarge told me that when you encounter Infected you have two options: run or kill.
I... I didn't see any Infected. I put the candy in my pocket on the ground, told Frank to leave the head of that disgusting Infected, and then went back to the Settlement.
This Halloween, will little cutie still like my candy?
